About Us

Be Grateful. Do Good. Piperfield Wines sponsors charity driven, community-based running events held throughout the state of IL. What makes these events so special? Running is typically a solo sport, but at these events runners come together as a family and as a community. Their spirit, generosity and perseverance is what inspires us.

5K races celebrate community, health, and benevolence. Piperfield Wines is dedicated to doing the same: 5 percent of all profits go to local small charities. Your cause matters, submit your cause online through our Grateful Grapes program.

And please remember to pace yourselves 🙂

Our Wines

5k and 10k wines are made by 4th generation winemakers, who practice sustainable farming. Beneficial insects are used for pest control, and for the majority of these wines, watering is only required once a year. From start to finish, these wines are in it to win it.

Varietals are the spice of life!

5k Chardonnay at Chicago Marathon VIP Experience

Hey there! We had a blast supporting the CARA VIP Experience at the Chicago Marathon. This was an early am curtain call, so we went with a 5k Chardonnay white wine punch that was light and lively! It was truly inspiring to see people of all ages pushing themselves to the limit. There was a ton of family support for these runners. CARA did a great job of organizing this event. There were complimentary massages, real toilets, snacks, beverages, beer and of course our 5K Chardonnay wine punch! A few […]

Champagne and Sparkling Wine, whats the difference?

Being in my late 20’s I will be the first to admit that most of my friends know very little when it comes to Champagne and Sparkling wine. One of my biggest pet peeves is hearing them call everything that has bubbles “Champagne”. It also seems to annoy them when I correct them, which is when they usually say something snarky like “whatever, same difference!” So I would like to set the record straight, right here and now and explain to my friends, and anyone else who may be confused […]

A Few Pearls for Spring

Easter Sunday started out super sweet 60 and sunny. From there, the temp dropped 15 degrees and it poured. Living in the Midwest sure has it perks, no scenery, no oceans…ok, admittedly it’s not that great here, but the seasons are as magnificent as they are exasperating. When the sun shines and the weather is good, you best get your tails outdoors! Otherwise, if you hesitate…the moment can be lost. There are a lot of things that can be done during less than ideal weather: laundry, painting, cleaning, napping and […]

New World wine vs Old World Wine for us Newbies

Recently, I decided to take a class on New World wine vs Old World wine. Old World wines are wines that originate from: Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean Basin. These areas have the longest history in wine making. Did you know that they don’t even classify Old World wines by their grape varietal? How are people supposed to know what they are drinking? I will tell you how; Old World wines use the terroir to classify the wine instead of using the varietal name. This is because Old […]

Music for your Wine and Runs

Music for your Wine and Runs Studies have shown that listening to music during a run works wonders on the mind and body. Not only can it improve results by acting as a motivational tool and as a distraction from fatigue, but it can help improve lung function. Music reduces your perception of how hard you are running by about 10%. Lowering your perception of effort and blocking some of the internal stimuli trying to reach your brain such as fatigue. Music elevates positive aspects of mood such as excitement and […]

Protection for those Cold Weather Runs

Let us start from the top.  You lose a reported 10% of heat from your head, so it is important to keep it covered.  Wear a hat of synthetic, wicking material.  Also remember that wind increases the effects of the cold, if it’s near-freezing use a face mask or scarf to cover your neck and face.  In addition, protect your skin from windburn and frostbite by using a sweat-resistant moisturizer such as BodyGlide, or Kiehl’s All-Sport Non-Freeze Face Protector. Dress as if it is 20 degrees warmer, when starting your […]
